As I recall, there was no suggestion that the Speaker had demurred from the expert advice of his Clerk in 2013.

But perhaps you’ve had enough of experts
Nah, I've had enough of unelected bureaucrats

The clerks advise they don't instruct, it's up to parliament to keep the speaker to account. A parliamentary majority can easily overturn the motion that Bercow allowed or vote him out on a no confidence motion.

      I'm alright Jack

Yes, experts proffer their advice, they do not instruct.

I’ll chalk you up to “had enough of experts”.

Parliamentary procedure is laid down in Erskine May (get a copy, it's only £408 from HMSO).
Soon to be freely available online, isn't it?

I think ERG should file for immediate injunction in ECJ to force Mr Bercow to reconsider...

if Bercow isn't legally challenged then it obviously wasn't expert advice.

If anyone thinks Bercow overstepped the mark they should challenge them in the courts in the same way that May and Davis were by Gina Miller.

If they're right they'll win their case.

Gosh, I'm unfamiliar with the mechanism through which the UK courts might rule on the internal procedures of the House of Commons in light of its "exclusive cognisance".

                      Would you care to clarify?
