Care work for the elderly has huge shortfalls of staff - it's partly why the NHS is so strained - old people cannot be discharged.
And given the UK's demographics over the next 30 years - the proportion of old people is going to rise relentlessly - this problem is only going to get worse.

But I think in the new post-Brexit world there could be solution - withhold free drugs from all over 75s who can't afford to pay for them.
Oh wait - that would disproportionately hit Brexit-voting gammon ....
    Hard Brexit now!

Better get yourself down to your local NHS to volunteer.

I have just volunteered to give a helping hand to the local hospital in the breast screening department. However, I might feel a right tit doing so.

Will we get a vote on it? We’re already being asked whether or not they should get a free tv licence after 2020.

By compliant you mean workers who will turn up on time and work hard without 3 fag breaks an hour or 3 sickies a month.

New trade deal agreed post 'no deal' in March 2019 will include 'one in one out' where we allow in one 'skilled' EU worker for one doddery OAP expat that wants to get tangoed on a Benidorm beach.

The more one thinks about it the more it makes sense. Spain (or any other EU destination of choice) gets the pension income spent in their economy, and UK reduces its OAP care burden in exchange for workers willing to pick fruit and veg.

All it takes is for the bulltulip to stop about 'no deal being worse than a bad deal'.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Personally I can't wait for a no-deal Brexit - the amount of chuckles would be even greater than now.

Spain might get the pension income (which, incidentally, for U.K. pensioners is way lower than a Spanish pension) but they also then get the exorbitant costs of health care.

Spain says no, the U.K. can keep the pensioners!

Seeing as the UK has a comparatively higher cost of living, primarily due to housing cost (mortgage or rent), than many EU countries it should be possible to offload the OAP care cost to other European countries as part of a deal for giving their workers an income they can also send home.

Euro care home tours, a land based cruise of sorts (the elderly love cruises), where the OAPs can get coached between '5 star' care homes around Europe for their remaining years, staying in one place for as short or long as they wish.
