Get your facts right (oh sorry you're brexidiot, facts don't matter), Schengen wasn't suspended, temporarily measures that were allowed by the Schengen treaty were put in place.

The Schengen Borders Code provides Member States with the capability of temporarily reintroducing border control at the internal borders in the event that a serious threat to public policy or internal security has been established.

The only time I came across this was when the World Cup was on in Germany and at the Belgium/Germany border they re-opened the customs checkpoint and any cars carrying more than 2 young men were stopped, most of them seemed to be British too
