That's why Vodafone was pro Brexit

"UK phone firms would face “increased costs” from EU carriers that they might then pass on to customers."

"The new draft regulation states that in the event of no exit agreement with the EU “it will not be possible to impose a limit on the wholesale charges faced by UK operators when their customers use networks owned by EU operators”.

“It’s unacceptable that these plans have been snuck out. Ministers need to start being straight with the British public about the consequences of no deal and take it off the table once and for all.”

So lets go through some facts

When we leave the EU we will have no control over whether EU operators decide to charge UK companies more to use their networks and those charges may be passed onto the customer.

Ok yes fine - why is that the fault of the government?

Why is EU companies trying to take advantage of brexit and charge the UK public more a fault of the government and not something you clearly lay at the door of the companies putting in the price hikes?

Also as I get the same deal when in America - who last time I looked are not in the UK or the EU? So why does that work?

So shall we say that as part of the EU's attempt to punish the UK public for having the audacity to leave they are going to try and increase your phone bill when in Europe.

Ok lets not go to Europe for a holiday then would that help?

You've always had trouble in confusing the EU with EU Member States, now you're having trouble separating the EU from a public company

If Vodafone decides to fleece it's UK customers through transfer pricing strategies on it's interconnect traffic, and it is only UK legislation that can stop them, why is this the EU's problem?

It's either Vodafone's problem, or the UK government's problem. And the UK government have folded like a pack of cards.

Not only in America but many countries that are outside of the EU. Simple profiteering by EU companies at the cost of someone with a British mobile phone contract.

So what you are saying is that it is not the UK government's fault if mobile phone companies put up their charges for UK users roaming in the EU, but at the same time it the EU is to blame for the exact same thing? You can't really have it both ways.

                  Broken record.

Where do you get this BS that every private company that exists in Europe is "the EU"?

The main player in European mobile communications are Vodafone, Telefonica (O2) and Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile, Orange, EE, possibly BT soon)

These are all privately owned global companies who will be under no obligation to maintain prices between countries where no requirement exists to keep the prices low.

The EU are not doing this to punish you for voting for Brexit, it's your fault for how you voted and why. You were free to vote, and you made that choice, not the EU.

But why should roaming be any different in the EU than it is in many other parts of the world that are outside the EU after Brexit?

That is BS because the majority of mobile phone companies have their own sister companies in other EU countries. e.g Telefonica owns O2 but O2 they used to charge roaming charges for using Telefonica in their HQ country Spain
