I don't know why people are banging on about the CAP as the British government have stated that they will continue to provide the same amount of subsidies to British farmers once Brexit has been dusted and done, so no changes there either

Still, I'm sure the CAP system will 'reform itself' and deffo not remain at status quo, due in no small part, to France...
I have a vague recollection that David Cameron had secured additional reforms in the last round of negotiations but they were deferred in return for the UK keeping it’s rebate. Win win for Cameron, keeps the rebate as well as CAP payments for Tory landowners. Will have to have a Google for that to check if I’m recalling it correctly or making it up....Comment

That’s 41% of the entire EU budget spent on the CAP.

€40bn a year. (For context that’s 60% of Kenya’s GDP in total).Comment

You could equally well have focussed your fear mongering on why 'other EU policies' have been growing and thus making CAP a smaller proportion (the actual CAP expenditure has remained fairly level for the last quarter century). Do we know what those other expenditures are? Do we get our fair share?"Don't part with your illusions; when they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live" Mark TwainComment

(Note: my point isn’t whether subsidies are good or bad, only that if you’re comparing them then at least use apples to apples, and not apples to a peanut)Comment

SO they moan about 8 billion per annum given to the EU, but ignore the 50 billion to 150 billion per annum (depending on which estimate you take) it will cost for a hard Brexit.
Always comparing apples with pears.
It seems there is a huge failure in the British mathematical education system.
Or we've just bred too many congenital idiots.Hard Brexit now!
