It is probably true - which means what Brexit has actually done is expose the UK's government for being full of self serving loathsome tw@s.

Maybe we should have another vote - to stay in the EU and dump the UK parliament - I wonder if the self serving tw@'s would suddenly sit up and do the job they are paid to then?

Really? Or are they just doing and saying what Tusk and Juncker are telling them what to do and say? There must be a few heads of Government who are more than slightly worried about the effects of EU tariffs on their exports to the UK, but I'm guessing they've been told to shut up and play along with the EU script.

Yes to both, but for different reasons.

To the U.K., it’s a negotiation. To the EU, it’s a legal process. There’s very little deviation from the official EU script because they all understand that leaving the EU is a legal process and therefore it follows the legal script. You could call this “doing what they’re told”, in the same sense that when a lawyer tells you what the process for something is, you follow that process.

Yes, there will be a few heads of government worried about tariffs, but from the perspective of their countries that’s not the worst case scenario. The U.K. crashing out with no deal is the UK’s worst case scenario; the break-up of the single market is the EU’s worst case - the U.K. leaving is uncomfortable but an acceptable price if it means that they continue to retain preferential access to 26 other countries.
