You are of course being ironic are you not? How do you think we got our empire? By preserving the piece or by violent oppression? Why not go sit down and have a cup of tea, then read some history about the same mentioned drink and how we have started wars over it. Idiot.

And to bring it back on topic, how do those arm sales to Saudi Arabia fit in with your rose-tinted view of Britain as the peacemakers?

(By the way, the EU being responsible for peace within Europe is partly due to the UK (Churchill) recognising that this was the best way. The UK, being within and a part of the EU, helped to make this happen)

Exactly I wasn't saying that others didn't also have empires and didn't obtain them in the same violent way. I was saying either that we didn't leave our colonial countries in a better state than others (think Belgium and Rwanda) but was correcting the dimwit who is so delusional to think we are a peace loving country and all the other foreigners are the baddies.
