Yes we can. A porous EU, leaking like a sieve, and freedom of movement within the EU, indirectly means (while we're in the EU) uncontrolled immigration from outside the EU as well as from inside it.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ here -

No it doesn't. e.g. An Indian studying in Germany cannot enter the UK without a visa. We're not part of Schengen.Originally posted by OwlHoot View PostYes we can. A guy in an office I had a contract in had a work visa that allowed him to work in the UK but he couldn't go to Eire to visit. He then got a Schengen visa and was surprised to find he still couldn't go on holiday to Eire.Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostWhich makes a complete mockery of the assertion that the UK gets back control of its borders.

I think the loophole is to make it difficult for those trying to claim asylum moving from the UK to Eire when their application fails in the UK and vice versa."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

which kind of proves that the borders are controlled, and whether the UK is in or out makes no difference, because Ireland simply takes over external EU border control.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostA guy in an office I had a contract in had a work visa that allowed him to work in the UK but he couldn't go to Eire to visit. Yes the whole argument about taking control over our own borders was total BS. Instead we've swung from one extreme to another and will most likely destroy our economy in the process.
