No it doesn't. e.g. An Indian studying in Germany cannot enter the UK without a visa. We're not part of Schengen.

A guy in an office I had a contract in had a work visa that allowed him to work in the UK but he couldn't go to Eire to visit. He then got a Schengen visa and was surprised to find he still couldn't go on holiday to Eire.

I think the loophole is to make it difficult for those trying to claim asylum moving from the UK to Eire when their application fails in the UK and vice versa.

Yes the whole argument about taking control over our own borders was total BS. The UK never lost that control by not joining Schengen

It is entirely the UK's fault that the influx of EU nationals occurred:

1. By not taking advantage of the transitional arrangements that delayed FoM and were designed exactly to stop such a sudden inflow.

and

2. By not putting barriers in e.g. requirement for private health insurance. This latter restriction is totally allowed under EU FoM and would have stopped all the lower waged EU nationals from coming. Simples.

Instead we've swung from one extreme to another and will most likely destroy our economy in the process.
