He thinks it, because it then makes him believe that his viewpoint is "middle of the road" in comparison, just by shifting the frame of reference.

If, on the other hand, you point out that the EU is made up of countries with a variety of political viewpoints from their leaders - some left, some moderate, some right - then it becomes clear that the EU is closer to central. That then makes his viewpoint a lot further to the reicht.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Anyone who says the EU is a Stalinist state is deeply ignorant. It's also pissing on the memory of the 20 million who died under Stalinism. To remedy this deep ignorance, I suggest reading The Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn. Once he's read it, GB9 should beat himself lightly around the ahead with it and promise not to be so crass (as to suggest that the EU is Stalinist) again.

Read it. Try Animal farm, you don't have to be a complete monster to be "more equal than others"

Of course there is no comparison

The European Union and Russia - Statistical comparison - Product - Eurostat

        have fun!

Right... a document comparing modern day EU and modern day Russia. Very relevant to the Stalinist argument...

I think the point that there actually is some common ground between the two is enough for people to say no to the EU.

But only people with some capacity to think for themselves. Not the entitled easily offended generation.

He posted a document that he claims to support that the EU is Stalinist. The document in question is a statistical comparison of Russia with the EU from 2007, covering topics such as:
Population, Labour Market, Economy and Finance, Living standards, Environment, Industry and Energy, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Transport... It includes comparisons with individual countries in the EU such as the UK.

And you think that it's about common ground between the two political entities, and so supports saying no to the EU, and supports the idea that the EU is Stalinist.

And then you wonder why the intelligence, rationality and erudition of Brexiters is continually being questioned?

                  Daily Mail - 1973...

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

I'm really losing the will to argue with particularly thick people but as you seem to possess the Remnant's only semblance of a brain then I will do you the honour.

Socialism in One Country That's the easy version and looks exactly like where the EU is heading. If you don't understand it then go back to college and do a course in sociology.

Clearly all member states are really happy with the EU, Poland sees Brexit as chance to shift EU power back to nations.

And my favourite of the day: “He is an icon of evil and stupidity.”

"Poland’s foreign minister Witold Waszyzykowski said the European Council President should stay “far away” from his home country of Poland because he has done nothing to help them be part of the future of the bloc.
The minister, a member of the ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, warned Mr Tusk had until May “to change his attitude” towards Poland.
He told Polish radio station RMF 24: “We are a country that wants to be really active in discussions over the future of the EU, Brexit and the UK’s relations with Europe, but on these issues Mr Tusk has done nothing to help us.
“He is an icon of evil and stupidity.”"

It's obvious from recent posts that the Remnant's have noting positive to promote about the EU.

We have one poster reduced to posting links to one article but with charts from elsewhere underneath. The same Remnant who has previously posted links that bear no relation to the point they were making but obviously hoping that no-one would check the link.

We have another who should want to avoid a Stalinist state based upon their background but who needs more immigration to make their BTL profitable.

Then we have Remnants who can't hold down jobs in the UK and have to take lower paid jobs elsewhere in the EU.

And to cap it all, a prize Remnant who would vote to take Scotland out of the UK but straight into the arms of the EU. How bizarre.

The EU is years out of date. The UK has been devolving power for the last few years. The EU is doing the opposite. Numerous other countries are getting fed up with it (see my post above). It will collapse.
