Onshore Intermediaries legislation - agency wanting docs

Sorry, not sure if this is the correct board, or the contracts board.

I've looked through the current threads on this legislation but can't find this particular query, but apologies if I've missed it.

So the current contract I'm on, I suddenly receive a request from agency to supply them with info regarding my ltd co & my status as director, in order to 'satisfy the legislation requirements'. I can't find info that suggests I need to send them current info, I already sent them info when I took the contract, and reminded them of that. They say they want the following :

Provide up to date documentation (from information filed at Companies House) to demonstrate:
· The company you are using to supply your services is a UK company, and not in strike-off or liquidation
· You are a current shareholder and director of the company

Examples of the type of documentation we would accept are as follows:
· A Company Information Summary from Companies House
· A company report from Experian

Is this really necessary? I'm inclined to be suspicious of agency - they've tried to strongarm me into agreeing unnecessary clauses before, naturally, so I'm weary of giving info if it's not necessary.

Perhaps I shall just leave them to gather the information themselves if they feel they must have it.

Or just tell them to go look it up. Surely they know they can?

We often have clients requesting a Current Appointments report because their agency have requested it too. I assume they just don't know they can get it themselves, or don't want to pay the massive £1 fee to download it.

The current appointments report is free now from Companies House, although you do still have to pay £1 to get the last Annual Return submitted.

I'm guessing it's a case of the agency being either too lazy to do it themselves or they just don't know they can do it themselves.
