Just think of the CTD as a separate insurance policy that could be used if you have to pay the full liability in that eventuality.

If another resolution is possible, you either get all your CTD back or a greater \ lesser part of it.
That's how I see it too, BB.

            2015 closure ?

Anyone think the MP FTT case will be heard in 2015 ?
What about the NTRT latest gambit, will that conclude or be another strand taking years through tax tribunals ?

              1) Possibly, although I would put more money on it being next year. Also, bear in mind that following a hearing it typically takes at least 6 months to get a decision.

              2) That's up to HMRC.

Perhaps the more immediate question is when will we start receiving APNs? Have HMRC released any information about how many have been sent out? I guess there's no way of telling where we are in the list.

Do we think HMRC are consciously delaying issuing APNs given a) our history of appealing everything, and b) the fact that there are already cases in the FTT process?

As far as I'm aware, they haven't issued APNs to any contractors in any schemes.

The only individuals who have received APNs so far are more wealthy investors in film schemes etc. That's why HMRC are able to report that 99% have paid up - these are mostly rich people.

There's a suspicion that's also why HMRC have extended the deadline for the EBT Settlement Opportunity from this month to July. The assumption being they won't start issuing APNs until after the deadline has passed.
