Brannigan and WG never got on - however many users there were. I wish I knew of all the bad blood between them.

I'm sorry but Montpelier capping the scheme would not have stopped others selling it.

And besides, you are overlooking the one thing which really got HMRC's attention...

A huge property developer in London putting £60M through the scheme.

Yes I think Montpelier would have thought that too large a sum to refuse, even if raised the profile.

Just to be clear, the £60m property developer in question did not use Montpelier.

A lot of the big guns used the likes of PwC and KPMG.

And where have the big guns gone? Did they attempt to contest the retrospection in 2008?

Some of them, including the firm that put £60m through, did fund the PwC consortium.

However, unlike us, they could probably afford to be philosophical about it ie. you win some, you lose some.

Hmmm, not sure how this tallies with Gauke's claim of 80% wins at the FTT.

Not connected to the FTT, this is about how complaints made to HMRC are handled and covers everything from Tax Credits to VAT refunds.

If you make a complaint to HMRC about how your case has been dealt with in terms of customer service then it goes through their procedure and eventually to the Ombudsman who either rejects or upholds the complaint.

A link to the regional report was posted a while back that gave all the details.

Other than to show what happens when they don't get to pick their fights, perhaps.
