    A fair question.

I anticipate dealing with FN/APN notices for a large number of people involved via a different area of tax. Their experiences and yours are likely to be similar. As a consequence I have been studying the HMRC material with some interest and I do speak with HMRC regularly. My motive in posting on this issue is to seek and return information on the grounds that there may be useful lessons for all.

If you think that motive unsuitable for this forum, I will retire gracefully.

You might want to speak directly with Carl Thomson at Whitehouse as he is dealing with a consortium of scheme users affected by APNs.

Personally I just like having non NTRT comments - as long as they are not trolling.

Having said that, those affected should join NTRT - to share the cost. Even though Montpelier should have stumped up the cash in the first place.

There is no way Montpelier should have funded NTRT as it would have completely undermined the credibility of the campaign.

            bollux.

            1. It could have been funded with only a few knowing.
            2. Credibility has done us alot of good so far. We have lost every single round.

You are not trolling - so personally I don't see the issue.

On the other hand, cuk is not a place for the sensitive. If you want to see how bad cuk can get, try posting in general sometime. You will find out what a bear pit is like.

The world of lobbying is murky enough as it is. Perhaps it has all been a waste of time, but it would definitely have been a waste of time if the campaign had been funded by a firm with an interest in tax avoidance rather than concerned individuals. And doubly so it it had been funded in secret and word got out....

Your intentions may well be honourable, but if you have been caught by s58, or any of the recent HMRC legislations then if you want to get the best out of this site and NTRT then you should contribute however small or large.

I believe we are currently requiring more funding so if it would be a good time to subscribe.

I would suggest this to the many newcomers that have been seen on this site recently, the more NTRT are funded the better, it probably is our only hope slim as it maybe of getting out of this mess.

                    +1000

And isn't it better that the money goes to NTRT rather than to HMRC.

Although things cannot get any worse, the only hope of things getting better is NTRT.

There are downsides to MontP supporting, but getting the money is way more important. It makes no difference - they won't stump up anyway. Its up to us to fund NTRT.

Unfortunately they are not lobbying for EBT schemes according to their FAQ's and as I wasn't caught up in S58 it seems I won't benefit. I have since moved back to LTD and ensured my working practices are outside IR35 and the help and information given by this and other sites has been invaluable.

Although I have moved on, I still have the cloud of APN's over me for years I have letters for from 06-11 :-(

However, other contractors I know, have moved onto PBT schemes since EBT's were finished and still use them claiming they are scre**d anyway ! I still can't think this is a good way to go, regardless what happens.

I'm hoping that at now at least I have removed myself from these schemes, I have more of a fighting chance now I have drawn a line under the TA schemes. Promoters are still reeling people in by saying this is different to the EBT, you are self-employed, these are not DOTAS registered blah, blah, blah.......

It still won't stop an APN falling on the door mat should they choose to enquire !!!
