Sorry, but anyone still using a scheme at the moment must have a screw loose. Seriously - if I had a contractor using such a scheme, I would fire them, because their ability to adequately evaluate risk is clearly lacking. The pressure on tax avoidance schemes is only going in one direction.

And I doubt buy the "I'm already in too deep to matter" - sounds too much like a gambling addict making "one last punt" to clear their debts.

According to most recent figures from HMRC, S58 affected 2,500.

Of those, 500 have settled, although that includes 150 Suo Motu back in 2003.

That leaves 2,000 people with open appeals.

We've got 25% as members.

I know some super smart guys that are brilliant at their jobs that are still on schemes. I have discussed the issues (to put it politely) with this, but they are confident their providers know what they are doing.

I hope they are spending all the cash or prepared to move abroad.

Hopefully, HMRC are changing the rules to stop the avoidance. Prospectively.
