So, that Tiger TV thing remains a very risk path IMO. It's a well know fact that any video can be edited to make it say whatever they like, regardless of the source material...

I have had a very brief exchange with NTRT on the idea of doing our own documentary following an earlier discussion, and they were considering what assistance or possible coordination they could offer. If we get it going, then I think it's essential it's done through a closed forum. I'll follow up. I totally agree with you, it should be achievable technically especially given we are mainly IT specialists, though we're likely lacking in journalist experience.

Finally received a reply from our favourite person

"Thank you for your letter of 3 April enclosing correspondence from your constituent, Mr "I'm screwed" about section 58(4) of the Finance Act 2008. I am sorry for the delay in replying.

In his letter, Mr "I'm screwed" has provided what he believes to be some further examples of inappropriate behaviour by HMRC. I understand HMRC has considered these carefully, but has concluded that the examples draw on material used in compiling the complaint to the Adjudicator, and that they cannot identify any areas of concern not already generally reflected in the complaint.

I explained in my previous letter, following correspondence from Mr Tonner, that HMRC has already provided their response to the Adjudicator in respect of this complaint. There is little I can usefully add, other than to confirm that HMRC will have proper consideration to the material and allegations comprised in the complaint. I understand that HMRC do not accept that its letter contained any erroneous statements, though of course HMRC remain ready to consider any new and credible evidence that is put to it.

Please pass on my thanks to Mr "I'm screwed" for taking the trouble to make us aware of these concerns."

Perhaps a contract giving you the right to view the final edit before broadcast and giving you the right to withdraw consent?

That's totally unrealistic. You think they're going to spend thousands and thousands of pounds making a show and give you the right to veto it at the last minute?

I think BP and others like him feel there's no way it could make things any worse - HMRC are already after them and the public and politicians are already being stirred up against avoidance. So why not give it a chance?

You could look up a list of past Tiger programs. I've been relatively impressed by C4 recently at covering subjects such as religion in a reasonably objective way rather than jumping on the easy "let's attack X" bandwagon.

Actually the suggestion came from a media law firm who state it’s pretty common. No producer in their right mind would ever suggest it to Joe Public though. Depends on who you are and how much they want your input, in our case I doubt they would give a tulip and simply not engage.

Im not surprised its a highly flammable situation. Last thing they want to risk is you losing it with the production team. Now if they convinced HMRC chiefs to join NTRT in a TV debate that would make amazing viewing!!!!! But of course getting the two sides across a table would never happen, HMRC wouldnt do it.....wonder why!!!!
