Dont see any retro tax legislation for any of the big firms that have been in the press for avoidance, wonder why? Using the "but they employ lots of people so pay tax in other ways" is not a justification to let them off the hook in paying what HMRC refer to as "their fair share". IF they were forced to pay their fair share doesnt mean they wouldnt do business here, its cobblers and an excuse for being soft on big firms.

          Double standards

In Gauke's latest reply letter, the words 'wholly artificial scheme' and 'aggressive tax avoidance' featured highly. If similar terms cannot be applied to the tax arrangements of Amazon, Starbucks, Barclays et al, then I must be missing something. The hypocrisy and double standards are simply beyond belief. Is this a line that NTRT should be mentioning in the next counter artillery barage that is sent in the direction of Westminster?

Im not aware of the subtleties in the arguments used by NTRT, but I cant see how we cant use the "why do this to us when you havent done it to them", double standards argument.

We haven't even been treated the same as other contractor schemes but none of this cuts any ice with Gauke or HMRC.

The extent of the retrospection in our case is without precedent. It was totally over the top.

Yes, I feel really sorry for the Edge guys. The promoter has done a runner and left them to fend for themselves.

Some of the other EBT providers also appear to have done a moonlight flit.

Whatever people may say about Montpelier, at least they didn't just abandon us.

NTRT has rebutted all these allegations on several occasions but they just refuse to answer and keep repeating the same false inaccurate and misleading statements.

It is also part of the chairman's complaint which is now with the Adjudicator.

Thanks for the sympathy - does the other side of your donkey's jacket say the same, but replacing "HMRC" with "Edge" ??
