SJD is a nightmare
SJD is an absolute nightmare _ have been with them for too long to be honest. always changing the accountant I deal with never have time for me ... trying to get a response from them as to why they haven t submitted my salary as par of my accounts and they just fobb me off with an email at 17.00 every day with some irrelevant response. i am worried that it states in the forum here that they are not regulated. should I be worried?
Any good recommendations for a decent accountant please
Originally posted by northernladuk View PostUpdated 23 June 2016 - This got out of date so am doing a bit of rehash. I've added any new ones, taken off some that seem to have disappeared and given a nod to some of the Accountants that are actively giving good advice on the forums but don't seem to have been recommended by posters.
Updated 23 Nov 2016 - Had some feedback from active posters on a few accountants I had in the advice section. They have now signed up and service is as it says on the tin so moved to 'have been recommended list'. Heard nothing about NW and SJD feedback hasn't been that great recently so sadly moved them down.
-------
As we get asked this so much I have compiled a list of accountant recommendation threads including requests for local services. To save time I have named accountants that have been recommended at least 3 times in these threads.
The general consensus of the threads I have read below are to go with the contractor specialist ones rather than a local bod. Knowing our business is better than face to face it seems. Some people are recommending a local guy so the choice is yours. I have done both and the specialist one wins hands down. I am with Gorilla Accounting now, previously with SJD just to be clear. They are in no particular order.
Gorilla Accounting
Maslins
BI Accountancy
Dynamo Accounting
InTouch Accounting
Crunch Accounting
Regular contributors to our forum worth a look (in no particular order)
Broome Affinity
Contratax Ltd
HillierHopkins
RHJ Accountants
Whitefield Tax
My Accountant Friend
Used to be top of their game but not much feedback recently. Could still be worth a look
SJD Accounting
Nixon Williams
The list below is very out of date and we don't seem to have had any recommendations of local guys in geographical locations. I'll leave them here for now but please not the dates on the posts

SJD ignoring what a surprise
It s a mistery to me how SJD still get clients can someone enlighten me
Originally posted by JonNorris@Crunch View PostJust to set the record straight, you don't actually have to book in a call with your accountant with Crunch as per the info in that link, you can just phone up and speak to them whenever you like.
We've asked SJD to change the info on that page but they ignored us.Comment
