I'm not sure how 'general' this is but it seems like a standard response..... Frankly you either support it or you don't.

The response I have had back also states he has written to the treasury (again). I'm feeling that this is not good enough - but can someone advise what we want him to do other than write to the treasury?

Is parliamentary question time not a good forum? What else?

Imvho and as I have said before, people need to be asking their mP's to consult their colleagues in Parliament to get an eary day motion put before the House. IMO, it is pretty pointless writing to mP's saying 'look at how hard done to we are, could you do something about it?' because they will just send the type of reply you have received.

We need to get MP's to get a debate in the House not, correspond with the Treasury via letters.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

I don't think so. We had a couple of sanctimonious folk on her a while back, when TSBT made an argument on morality. I'm not pointing fingers, but the language and arguments are familiar, so probably someone sympathetic to that view. Whoever it is most likely on the boards here, they were quick of the mark. The funny thing is that just by having that rather angry-head rant at us, there's another 20 comments added. They've stoked our fire, and made it more likely it'll get picked up on. Go figure, lol.

Alan, to his credit, doesn't have a pop at us in this way, he's more focussed on why we are wrong legally, and of course he's out for revenge on WG.

Is anyone else getting fed up with all these tiresome, bargain-basement references to 'morality'.

I mean...who hasn't made use of a loophole at some point in their life? Social, intellectual, physical, emotional?

            We're human - it's what we do.

If there is a moral dimension to all this, it's the obligation of the State to provide an internally consistent legal framework. And the State has singly failed to fulfil that moral obligation.

(btw - 'ITContractor' talks about 'honesty' whilst hiding behind a pseudonym. What's that all about?)

OK, I'll save judgement for now. Wouldn't be suprised if it is someone who frequents this forum. I've had a few private messages telling me I deserve what I get.

                New letter from MTM

Hi all... Got a new circular letter yesterday. The tone of it was a bit downbeat. Don't know if I should quote it publicly on here?

Never post it verbatim on here. Raise any salient points for discussion. Though somehow HMRC seem to get their hands on it anyway.

I think this was sent out in case HMRC sent out demands to arrive over Easter. They are known for doing things like that - it lets you have days to tenderise before you can consult someone who knows how to handle the situation.

Other than that the letter is a statement of fact. Talks are on-going, HMRC may send out demands and anyone can settle if they feel they want to do that.

I don't. Retrospective tax is wrong, and this bird is going to keep chirping away until the situation is made right. From my cold, dead hands....
