Which is what I think most of us are expecting anyway. But at least we would know where we stand.Comment

I've taken the decision to write to my MP this morning, for what it's worth.
I, like many of us, do not have the means to pay off the six figure debt so will have to hope that some good comes out of a tax tribunal or some added pressure for parliament.Comment

Thank you DR / nothing in the post
Hi - I have never posted here before but have been following the thread nervously for a while. Firstly an enormous thank you to DR as without him / this thread I wouldnt have had a clue what was going on.
I have not received anything (yet) from HMRC in regards the SC appeal being lost / Closure Notices. However as they couldnt manage to match up a name and address on their Xmas Newsletter for me (mail merge being beyond HMRC's skill set) then maybe I wont receive a letter and just a knock at the door with no notice!
Are there many others who havent recieved anything yet?Comment

1. It appears they seem to decide themselves. Not sure there is a governing body. What are the chances ?
2. "Reasonable belief that your tax affairs were in order". I am sure they will claim with an enquiry open you would not have had this beliefComment

Well this could end up in the SC again (oh sorry it wouldn't be allowed to get that far)!

2) I certainly did believe my tax affairs were in order. I didn't get an inquiry letter until 2004/5 so had no reason to doubt my position.Comment
