I have use Business use: Class 1 for as long as I can remember but chatting to a number of contractors here they are using just the basic Social, Domestic & Pleasure Including Commuting level. We had a debate around this as the latter states 'includes using your car for driving to a single, fixed place of work. ' The counter argument is that we count our place of work as a temporary place of work for IR35 but claim it is our permanent one for insurance which seems a bit stupid. Business use states 'allows use of the vehicle for commuting to more than once place of work, and journeys such as visiting clients/associates.'
I don't know if Class 1 adds a lot to my insurance as I never asked for a quote for Social, Domestic.
What do you guys have?
If SDP is £100 and Business Class 1 is £150 can you claim the £50 back from the company as this is extra is wholly and exclusively for the business?
