He's right on the money too. If you are the kind of contractor who sits in a restaurent congratulating yourself that you are getting a large percentage of the meal paid for by the British tax payer, you're not likely to be at front of the queue when the next big thing looms on the horizon are you? Have you thought of pinching loo rolls from work too - you could save yourself about £20 over a year!

I would hate it if he called a spade a pitcher fork. Or even ask for Fork Handles and get four candles instead.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

I do try to have a dump at work to save money on loo roll if that counts.

On topic, perhaps the poster should do as he suggests and then drop a note to HMRC checking that it's OK.

This would be a meeting which you are the only attendee I take it? Have lunch for a couple of hours, write a note saying "take £20k" and that's the meeting done?

Not me!! They have loo roll like sandpaper here and no wetwipes for my delicate botty.

Oddly enough I didn't mean to come across too aggressive for a change. To me 'taking the piss' is just a standard term for not doing things by the book. Rest of it wasn't worded as best it could be I admit but was in a rush.

I still believe however that people who ask questions that they obviously know is pushing the boundries a little, should be a more aware of the boundries if they are going to push them. I would hate to think what some people are claiming that they didn't ask about!! Saying that it could just be me that plays it too safe at times.

Except on occasions when he calls a spade a "now then, those aren't for the likes of us: just dig with your bare hands"
