    Using car for business

    Hi

I just wanted to know if i can claim car repairs on my business as well as claim the mileage allowance?

My car needs a service and it's going to cost about £700 for the service plus other parts, as i only do about 200 miles per month i don't think the allowance would cover the service cost.

    Adivise needed please.

The amount you claim for mileage is greater than the cost of the fuel in order to cover this.

    So no IMO.

      WHS.

The milage allowance is intended to cover repair and running costs as well as fuel.

If your car costs more than 40p per mile to run you need to get a new car.

        ....or a rate increase.
I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt, not that fancy store-bought dirt... I can't compete with that stuff.

AFAIK, your company can pay for anything it likes, but it will declare it as a BIK on your P11D.

Some times it can be cost effective to do that, depends on whether they arract class 1a NI or not.

The way I look at it is, the lowest "tax cost" money I have in my pocket is dividend income. So, I would take the money as a divi and spend it rather than spend it via my P11D via the Ltd Co.
