Can someone confirm that in The Netherlands it is 30% (is social security included??) and is it independetely on how long you will stay (e.g. 2 years??)

      so the formula is
Gross pay less management fee less expenses less Employers social contribution(25%) equals Gross taxable income .
Gross taxable income less employee social contribution 13% less taxation
      equals take home pay
Example €500 day equal €10,000 less deductions per formula equals about€4000 take home pay.

Switzerland is the most profitable with low taxes and low social costs followed by Netherlands with the 30% ruling

Before taking up a contract in europe you have to understand the inpact of
social security deductions and tax deductions.
This is if you have a ltd company. If you are just self employed it is not working like this.
I don;t think I understood your example fully. Do you mean that if you earn 10000 euros in Belgium you take home 4000? Sorry but if it is true I don't see why someone has to stay in Belgium!!! I don;t think that the services offered by the Belgian state are so much better than in Switzerland, Germany or The Netherlands

That would be as a Freelancer, which is a special form of self-employed, for which you don't pay "Gewerbesteuer" sort of "manufacturing tax" which I think is a further 8-10%. You would need to demonstrate that your work is of the same level as a professional Engineer.

If you're inside German's equivalent of the IR35 rule (one client etc) you would be expected to pay an additional EUR 500 per month, though if you are new to being self-employed there is I think an exemption for a while, or you pay some reduced rate.

Normally however you should be able to be on the 65-70%.
        I'm alright Jack

          Hi,
anyone has already invoiced the month of February to connexion? They said that March was the deadline to decide if staying with them or not, so invoicing connexion now means accepting the new ruling.
As for me, leaving connexion also means dismissing my activity as a self-employed contractor, as the only proposals I received from other mancos are for payroll solutions.
Is anyone investigating the hypothesis to create a sprl or something similar in Belgium?

These figures do not apply if you have a Ltd company.
This is the quote that I received from a management company who does not deal in income splits. If you set up your own Ltd company or set your self up as a self employed person you would gain more.
Would you set yourself up as Limited company or self employed in Belgium or elsewhere in europe for a 3-6 month contract? This is why we use management companies.
The reason I accept work in Belgium is because my wife is Belgian and Belgium is now home, but I try to work elsewhere mon-fri.

Are you not able to still stay within the UK social security system for 3 (or is it 5?) years. More often than not it's the social security contributions that cause the expense rather than the tax.

You are 100% correct about the social security expenses
I am a UK citizen but have only an aunt and a niece in the UK which I am told means I dont have real family ties in the UK. I used the Soc Sec option last in 1999/2000 in the Netherlands.
Secondly my wife contributes to my Soc payments so I have a SIS card so maybe this option is not open to me in Belgium. In France this may not be a problem.
I last worked in the UK 3 years ago

Wasn't it today that we should have some news?
Has anyone heard anything from them?

I suppose that any official ruling should be published on this site
                      http://www.ruling.be/
as there is the one with Hong Kong Offshore companies etc

                      What do you think?
