    Having spent an extended time on the bench and been through the process and actually received benefits, I started writing a lengthy response based on my experiences.

        no, look I didn't say that i couldnt support myself for a week...where has this come from, i just didn't go into detail, as brownissue just said it could be many many months thats all...



        my hidden money has been taxed already. its hidden as in its not in my account so wont be calculated if i was to make a claim...

                  Yep there was indeed. She claimed housing and child benefit IIRC. She was trying to get herself off state subsidies by peddling some dubious furniture wasn't she?

                      She was doing it entirely legally... as Peter/Theo said, the whole point of the benefits was to allow people to get into a job or business, NOT just support them indefinitely, which was exactly what she was doing...
