As I already pointed out - roaming charges abroad do not make this worthwhile, it is cheaper for me to pay the internet access charge at the hotel or buy a wireless 30day access card and not claim as an expense (remember its my money at the end of the day not someone elses)!This default font is sooooooooooooo boring and so are short usernamesComment

The wholly and exclusively does not apply to personal claims through your tax return, you can claim a reasonable business proportion of personal broadband/internet/phone charges as here. This does refer to being at home but presumably same applies in temporary accomodation.

It seems that wholly and exclusively does apply to employer reimbursing same costs. Idiotic when the tax paid is same either way and for that reason I doubt HMRC would challenge small amounts. IME they don't seem to care about rigidly applying rules too much as long as they get their money.
