    SJD Scotland

    Hi All,

As some of you have been aware, there have been issues with the service levels in Scotland for some time. What you won't know of course is just how hard I have been trying to sort them out. Customer Service really is the single most important thing for me, and the complaints we were receiving really did hurt me on a personal level. Having spent 15 years building up the business, and with 150 staff working so hard to provide a great service it was very frustrating to have just one person causing so many problems.

The chain of events was as follows:

    1. Complaint received from client re service
    2. Notice given to the MD of SJD Scotland to adhere to service standards and provide management information
    3. Deadline for delivery expired
    4. Notice given to MD of SJD Scotland that an external consultant would be visiting the office to obtain information within 3 days.
    5. MD of SJD Scotland terminated the agreement before the consultant arrived
    6. MD of SJD Scotland emailed all clients urging them to change their Standing Order into his own bank account

Obviously we are taking immediate legal action, but my main concern is that our clients are not unduly inconvenienced.

To that end I'd like to confirm the following:

    1. Your existing standing order should be cancelled.
    2. Contact me at simon@sjdaccountancy.com
    3. Another SJD Accountant will look after your affairs going forward
    4. Your contract will remain with SJD Accountancy and so there will be no duplication of fees
    5. SJD will continue to have offices in both Glasgow and Edinburgh
    6. Current fee levels will remain as is for the forseeable future
    7. All files, books, records, electronic data etc belong to SJD Accountancy
    8. I would be happy to receive calls or emails to answer any queries.

Finally, I'd like to express my sincere apologies to anyone inconvenienced - rest assured we have a team of people waiting to look after you properly.
P.S. What Spreadsheet? Revolutionising the contracting market again.

Thanks Simon for the detailed account. We will be keeping our business with SJD.

If Scotland's service has been so awful lately why on earth would anyone keep giving business (i.e. swapping their standing orders) to the guy who was in charge?

No brainer if you are with SJD in my perfectly humble opinion.

I don't think all of this is entirely true.

I was a client of SJD (Scotland) Ltd which has now changed it's name to KJM (Scotland) Ltd - check companies house if you don't believe me. To carry on with that company you don't need to change your payment arrangements since their bank account hasn't changed (though you'd be paying to much due to VAT changes). Unless some people paid indirectly through SJD.

That said personally I'll be jumping ship to SJD as the service in scotland was absolute tulip.

Ken's email had a standing order form and asked us to cancel our existing standing order.

Michelle from SJD's email said the same thing, cancel existing standing order and send us your details.

I too am a client of what was SJD Scotland and I spoke to Ken first and then also Simon yesterday. I'm still trying to make my decision about what to do next but I am definitely not happy with either Ken or SJD. The one thing that sticks with me is that I have changed my companies registered address and was told to do so because of Mail forwarding issues, not sure if that was true after all.

No - it is entirely true.

SJD Scotland Ltd was being run under licence from SJD Group Ltd using the trading name of SJD Accountancy. The licence has been revoked hence the change of name and the request to commence new SO's.

There is obviously only so much I can go into on a public forum because of the impending legal action, but I will happily answer any queries or concerns either by phone or email.

I'll leave you to make your own conclusions, but Ken sent that email for all clients using our registered office on 19th Nov and jumped ship on 24th Nov.

Another e-mail... I don't know what to make of it all now. Sounds bitter.

I got that email too. Don't understand the implications of Easy Accounting though.

Thta's the second email where Ken has mentioned an SJD rate increased. I have been assured by Simon that my rate WON'T rise.
