Nothing to do with the Scotland thing, but I'm a long-standing, satisifed customer of SJD.

They've always been great and I have recommended them on numerous occasions and will continue to do so.
Rule #76: No excuses. Play like a champion.

I have never known anyone who is so passionately dedicated to his company as Simon, which probably accounts for the huge success of SJD. Some of you have said that the posts have been unprofessional but I wonder how many CEO’s would be as honest and upfront as Simon has been on this forum? Now you may think that I am saying all this because he is my brother (and you’d be right ) but I am also saying it because I have the utmost respect for a businessman who is prepared to hold himself and his company up for public scrutiny and to answer criticism, query and approbation with equal patience, honesty and dignity.
As someone with absolutely no connection to SJD (and not that you need the support Simon!) I'd just like to say that I've always thought that it says a lot that Simon is willing to respond to any criticisms in public.

Ken on the other hand seems to be awful quiet ...

        SJD / KLM Bust Up

Well this explains somthing which has always puzzled me.

When I first registered with SJD (as they were voted best company or something) I found I always dealt with the Scottish branch which seemed very separate to the English branch.

Whether or not you are happy with the Scottish service - it is basically Ken and his team who have been dealing with all your affairs. If you need accounts finished sharpish I think you'd be best placed staying put.

Personally Ken has always got back to me with contract reviews within 24 hours. I, in agreement with someone else, think covering the whole of Scotland is rather a large area.

As far as I'm concerned SJD offered me a service which was a bit of a smoke screen - I never got the option to go with the English branch. Ken MacTaggart is the guy I have been dealing with via SJD (Scotland).

I will stick with KJM for now since these are the people I have been dealing with, therefore, I have no relationship with anyone in SJD England, so why would I transfer there ?

I do feel a bit exposed from an Inland Revenue point of view - I'm not sure which company has the better relationship there.

It's unfortunate the relationship has broken down to such an extent that a joint, rational email could not be sent. This sort of dialogue doesn't reflect well on the accountancy profession (of which I am a member, although work as a contractor).

Possibly Ken has not posted on this site because it would be against his professional code of practice to do so.

          HMRC corres

When signing up with SJD scotland, one would have sent several authorisation forms to HMRC authorising HMRC to send correspondence (pertaining to your limited company) to SJD scotland. What happens to these authorisations? Which company HMRC would now deal with, SJD or KLM? Or should new authorisations be submitted now?

Get new authorisations done, for which company you go with. These are called 64-8 forms and any new one submitted superceeds any previous one.

The original authorisation (ie with SJD Accountancy) would stand.

You would only need submit new ones if you changed to a new accountant

Yesterday, I got a PM from Simon acknolwedging that my points were valid and that he'd do what he could to help.

Hat's off to him for fronting up like he has.
well good on him for doing that... not many would

I urge anyone who has been using SJD Scotland to take this opportunity to leave Ken MacTaggart and run as I am still two years after ditching him having to deal with the aftermath of failed returns, late penalties, lost paperwork, dreadfull advice and a blatent failure to provide any level of accountancy support.

I cannot vouch for Simon or SJD as the only contact I have had with him was when I finally lost the plot and contacted the head office.

That said the issues of non submission of P35's, Company Accounts, P14's and missing documents has still not been resolved and I have three outstanding appeals on this basis.

On a personal note I find the handling of this "split" an utter abortion leaving me with no doubt that I was well advised to ditch them/him two years ago!

                    Hi,

Could I just urge anyone with any problems with the ex SJD Scotland or Ken Mactaggart to get in touch with me immediately and I will do my very best to sort it out. SJD will also take full responsibility for anything done or not done by Scotland whilst under the SJD name.

If you would wish to persue an independant complaint, the place to start is here:

i would do as the above states- if indeed you are moving accountants then there are a few things that you will require from your existing accountant- so if you make contact with them just now then it would hopefully make way for a smooth change over.
