MontP have already sent the appeal and copied me in - very efficient.
Seems everyone is getting better service than me from MontP.

I've emailed and phoned several times to confirm whether or not they're appealing the CNs, and have yet to receive a single reply in two months.

The only people who do seem to be on the ball on this are, dare I say it, HMRC, who have at least kept me informed of the situation!

I'll badger MontP again - any tips will be gratefully received.

        Closure Notice

The postman delivered 3 closure notices to me from our friends at HMRC. Many thanks!!!!

They are computer print outs with hand written comments all over them - very professional!! Also they took 5 days to reach me!!!

I will be sending them on to MTM.

Everyone please keep up the good work as this forum is certianly giving me strength to carry on.

        Our day will come!!!

I received my first CN this week. Got through to someone at Montp instantly and faxed over the details. They informed me they respond with appeals a week before the notice period ends.

Happy for you to PM me and I'll give you details of who I spoke to.

I certainly have not been Montp biggest fan over the years (responding to e-mail's is certainly not their strong point) but they do now seem to have a much slicker process in place for dealing with this.

            Closure Notices

Just received my first closure notices too on Monday.
Sent them onto MP who appealed and HMRC updated my web statement with appeals noted the next day so pretty quickly sorted....
Except for the incompetence of HMRC -
they removed my payments as well as the appealed amendments completely for those years and are now claiming I owe them interest on the money I actually paid. Can you believe it?

              interest owed after appeal

I had the same issue. spoke to the tax office who said the interest owed by me on money i had already paid, could only be removed when the appeal process was all finished. at least interest isnt accruing on the interest I dont owe them. I couldnt be bothered to argue and will sort it all out in 2014 when BN66/s58 finally gets resolved.

Looks like they need some help to sort out their crappy systems ...

Have you signed up to HMRC online services?
You will be able to check if the appeals have been acknowledged by HMRC. There will almost certainly be some mistakes but at least it will give you an idea.

                    FOI docs from HMRC

                    Hi,

Anyone else had a similar experience ? I made a request under the FOI act to get all my tax related info from the revenue and suprisingly they actually stumped up the info in about 3 weeks. It came with a covering letter stating there are certain exemptions which mean they dont have to supply info under etc etc.

Anyway, the records are all complete and full upto when i became self employed and went on MontP scheme. Then there is one line stating i paid a grand to open the IOM trust, and no further info for anything after that !!

So seems they have decided to filter all of that out from the start, then probably make it up once they hear the result of the JR. Well, thats what the cynics may think..
