It might be the lazy option but I feel like they have lots of clout and I like the reliablity and ease of operation ... when we win it will be even better !!

I have been with Montpelier 6 years. I agree they have lots of clout and have no intention of moving. Going Ltd I would only get caught by IR35 which is why I went with MP in the first place.

He could possibly be referring to the sempra case appeal which was being heard last week. HMRC were appealing the ruling that the payments were NOT loans.

I am still with Montp but haven't been able to make use of the scheme for the last few years because the last agency I was dealing with wouldn't deal with Montp, so had to go Ltd.
This current Stasi-govt has put the onus on all agencies/accountants/businesses to be their spies and if they do not volunteer info about what their clients are up to, they will also be brought to book.
Whatever happened to client confidentiality and the rule of law!?

Even though the scheme is perfectly legal, the govt bully-boy tactics were enough to make certain agencies just decided not to use Montp. I would use them again if possible.

My current one wouldn't either...but they would deal with the one where you are employed rather than self-employed...did you ask about that?

              rejected petitions

There are a number of petitions on the downing st website that were rejected. I particularly liked this one :-

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to
              just go now.

Treasury not responding to MPs letters

Any theories as to what they are up to? The only explanations I can think of are:

                  1) they have parked this until after the budget is out of the way

                  2) they are waiting to see if the JR gets the go-ahead. If it does, then they may respond saying they can't comment because it's now in the hands of the courts

The question is how long to give them before we start chasing?

I was going to give them 30 days to reply, since thats the amount of time
the revenue seems to give me to do things. The letter my MP sent to the
treasury was dated 28 February so that's about now.

I'm hoping to get this in before the JR appeal so they can't use the pending
                      legal action excuse.
