I have also received a surcharge for 2007 which is after I left the scheme and this way all paid on time!

I have just checked on the online SA site and it shows me as still owing them over 20K! This is made up of interest charges, surcharges and unpaid tax.

Now I'm pretty sure after they received my appeal my balance should have gone back to £0!

The name of my case worker is "Mrs ******"!

Might be worth forwarding on the details to nw/tq just to be safe. Or should I say Mrs ******/Mr *****?

initially phone the tax office. I had the same situation and they said they would get it corrected and acknowledged the mistake. TQ and NW have enough on their plate without sorting out these easily resolved issues. Tax office were actually very friendly and helpful. Its just an admin cockup, appeals and auto generated notices probably crossed in the post..They have a considerable lag in their systems.

If you dont get any joy that way then send on to NW & TQ

IMO mistakes should be punished by penalties. we get it if we make a mistake.

absolutely, but just smile sweetly and point out their error without emotion. that will piss em off even more if they think we arent that bothered..

I phoned tax office and asked them to resend corrected self assesment.
              They said they would do.

              So it can be done!

also you should tell them off for sending out correspondence without checking it twice

                    Mp

Everyone - I spoke to MP yesterday and they told me they were sending out an update soon because lots of people are asking them the same questions - which, as we know, is taking up lots of their time. I guess we need to look out for something soon - buts communication is always good.

I mentioned a month back that I got a letter from HMRC that had my name wrong (they called me "Gordon", and I don't even live at 10 Downing..), wrote the wrong NI number, probably wrong reference too, and stated that I had a trust way back to 2006/2007 (only started this year).

I wrote back, pointing out their mistakes; they replied, apologising, but still stating that me being in a DT scheme in 2006/2007 is still correct. That ticks me off quite a bit...

Am I allowed to ask them to show me their source or where they got their info from?

I don't mind much if they have some issue about me using the DT shield as that's quite expected, but falsely accusing me is another matter.
