a quick delurk and thank you.
Hi
I’m de-lurking after monitoring this thread since it started – after a fellow MP scheme member pointed it out to me.
I must admit that prior to reading this thread I thought the writing was on the wall and it was only a matter of time before I’d have to bend over for the IR.
So a BIG thank-you to all that have posted to date – you certainly are giving me a lot more confidence that MP are on top of the situation.
I was with MP for just 9 months during 05/06. I pulled out at the end of the 05/06 tax year once I got wind that members of the scheme where coming under investigation.
To date I have received all the correspondence from the IR but no closure notice as yet.
Whilst my liability is not a life-changing amount - it’s still a substantial amount of money which will wipe out the majority of my savings – not good under the current financial climate.
Out of interest I know of 3 other MP scheme members, one has a years liability, another has 3 years liability both have not received a CN as yet. The other has been with MP since 05 and that individual isn’t even under investigation by the IR.
Thanks again to all prior posters!!Comment

I have received a letter or acknowledgment from my appeal which says I have nothing currenlty to pay for 2002-2005.
Since then I have received letters charging me surcharges on my 2005 return after it was suspended.
I have also received a surcharge for 2007 which is after I left the scheme and this way all paid on time!
I have just checked on the online SA site and it shows me as still owing them over 20K! This is made up of interest charges, surcharges and unpaid tax.
Now I'm pretty sure after they received my appeal my balance should have gone back to £0!

Human Rights Advisor
I see the Government's own Human Rights advisor has resigned. He said he felt tethered by the government, and described its record on human rights as "dismal and deeply disappointing".
He's a lawyer. Since he is now unemployed perhaps he would like to act on our behalf?

Many thanks for de-lurking and a very clear opening post.
Have you given the other 3 scheme members a link to this thread?Comment
