    Tax Returns

Is it because they are so busy at the moment or does it always take an age to get a tax return from MP? Last year I kept emailing and phoning and got it back in about March resulting in fines and interest!

This year, I know my tax information was sent to them very early and indeed I'm about number 150 in the queue. Given that there are over 1000 people in the scheme then I'd guess this means they aren't even 15% of the way through at this point.

I am getting quite concerned and the latest information I have is that "it will be done in Decemeber". I don't want to keep hassling them as they are busy at the moment but surely the tax department (NW & TQ) is different from the rest.

Is it just me or does everyone have the same experience?

Also, are we to file these online ourselves this year and if so, do we need a user/password etc from HMRC?

    Thanks.

Yes, I have savings which would cover approx 30% of what my bill would be.

Need to read up on what 'Bankrupcy' means, I don't want to lose my house !!

Remember this is a worst case scenario... and best case is you pay zero.... and chances of us winning are definetly better than the revenue have of winning.... in my opionion!

MP are understaffed, there is no question about that. But there also isn't time to train new people even if the management were willing.

The priority has to be Closure Notices. If you miss the deadline for appealing then you are screwed.

The worst case scenario if returns are filed late is a fine etc. which will be MP's problem.

I know NW & TQ will do everything humanly possible to make sure things are done on time.

I have found the service excellent. AFAIK they have not missed a deadline - provided you get in your details by 30th Sep. If not I believe they will pay any fine on your behalf - well I would hope so!

I got my tax return for 2007/08 done in June 08 - but then I had all the information to them by mid-April!

I wanted to thank everyone posting on this thread.
I'm also with MP and most of my questions have been answered here.
Have not received my CN yet but I've been in the scheme since 2001, therefore expecting a HUGE "surprise" when it arrives .

                      Keep up the good work.

                      Thanks.
