I have seen both (both friends.. still don't have mine!) a closure notice, and a letter which was more like "here is our estimate of what you owe". In the friends case who got the estimate, it is because he wrote to them asking for it. You will know it is a closure notice - becasue the cover letter will say it is a closure notice/statement and it will give you only 30 days to pay/appeal....it's fairly obvious - u just need to read it!!Comment

BTW, can anyone who has received a closure notice tell me if you needed to sign for it, or was it just sent in the usual bog standard 2nd class brown envelope? Thanks.Comment

The closure notice I saw came in the usual bog standard brown envelope... didn't have to sign for it (woudl Hector waste money ha ha ) - it was just a particularly large (well A4 stlye) size as it had a couple of pages covering letter/telling u u had to pay etc... how much interest was... then it actually had all the calculations - original submitted tax return calcs, and their revised calcs for all the years (in this case just 05/06 and 06/07), plus a form to fill in if you were appealing (for each year) and your statement of account..... which if anyone can make sense of congratulations (and i'm sposed to be an accountant!)Comment
