HMRC have an office in OZ...pick another country.Originally posted by Maddog View PostMontP still say they are confident of winning. I was on Scheme 2002 – 2007 so they had better be. Just hope the Aussie embassy gets a move on with my Visa application !Comment

Sounds like a good idea. The CTD option works if you have the cash handy, and not going to end up paying high rates on(with after tax income). Maybe sell some assets(stocks/BTL), might work better.Originally posted by smalldog View PostThe reason Im not getting a CTD just yet is this, I'd have to borrow about £100k to make any difference from a finance company:
£100,000 60months @ 7.9% = monthly repayment £ 2,011.79
and if MontP win I would have to give all the money back with an early loan repayment penalty so not a lot of options....
Obviously, if you loose then there's not much choice..Comment

Ctd
Hello All,Originally posted by zippo View PostHi Guy's,
Has any one actualy purchased a CTD ?
I've been on the scheme since 2001 and with Montpelier's help and advice bought a CTD for the bulk of my potential bill in 2007. Its pretty simple - you send a covering letter and transfer the cash and a few days later they send the certificate. The advantage over a payment on account is that the purchase of a CTD is not disclosed to the Special Commissioners so can't be seen as an admission of liability. The disadvantage is that if we win the interest rate is derisory and subject to tax.

Douglas,
Thanks for the update, do you have an idea on how confident Montpelier are of winning.
