You've missed the point, this it's not about my question, it's about peoples attitudes. Granted I asked a newbie question and was lazy not to search it out first, I'll hold my hands up now and admit that, but the discussion has diverted to people's inability to act professional and mature here on this forum.

The part in bold annoys even the most patient of people which is why you got the attitude.

IMO if you had acted professionally and maturely yourself you would have searched out the answer and asked about the points you didn't understand rather than expected to be spoonfed.

Nothing wrong with the way I worded it, does not apply.

p.s. You forgot a full stop!

            General
For abuse, nastiness and newbie-baiting ().

            Accounting / Legal
            Technical

For professional, on-topic behaviour. Unlike this thread.

            Light Relief

            NewNumpty has spoken. Obey.

Yes but that's no license to behave with unacceptable aggression, there's ways and means of putting a point across without resorting to caveman instinct (and just for the record I don't have a problem with anyone else's behavior other than mister69's, he is way out of line).

You seem to be in the minority that finds it unacceptable.

It's really not fair to ridicule them, or put them dow, as if they're complete ignorant numpties that should know better than to grace this forum with 'their daft offerings.' A lot of people may well be put off by joining this forum or asking highly relevant questions for their own circumstances.

By all means make some reference for standard answers, if they can help, but just remember that newbie insecurities will inevitably elicit a feeling of extra caution about what they see is a scary leap into the dark and so they would rather ensure answers are up to date and relevant to their own particular concerns by asking them again and getting tailored answers. That's normal human behaviour not the outpourings of a numpty.

                    So be nice guys!

And you expect a mature and sensible response from this lot.
Just send the newbies to tpd where we nice people hang out.

That's what's needed on the business/contracting and legal/accountancy sites. More maturity and a more professional attitude. If respondees can't act that way then they're better off not posting at all. After all, there's always someone here who can answer in a civil and responsible way. One good answer is better than many bad ones.

It is unfortunate that for some on here, expecting maturity and professionalism from them is less likely that successfully training a cat to become prinicipal ballerina in Swan Lake.
