Nice for you.
Who knows and quite honestly who cares what NW do extra. They’re accountants aren’t they? Don’t they just account. I’m sure they are jolly nice people and very good to their clients.
Are the in Birmingham? I honest don’t know where they are.
I’ve met with Darryl twice now, some may say there is no need to ever see your accountant – I’d have to disagree. I feel warm and cozy that if there is a big issue I can see him and I don’t need to drive 500 miles.
As you know, because you quite obviously a successful man, time is money. Hence my well qualified, friendly local accountant. I like National names, give me a feeling of security.Comment

Danbro are in Blackpool (just checked), never heard of them.
Only good thing to come out of Blackpool - ERNIE National Savings Premium Bonds – Tax Free Prizes and a good chance of winning too – I also recommend these and no I don’t work for NS.
Who wants an accountant in Blackpool? Are there even any contractors in Blackpool?
I think not.Comment

I changed to Upton Accountants earlier this year. I'm very happy with the service so far. i dumped my last accountant because the service was poor, i.e. sending returns out at the last minute, not proactive.
I almost went with SJD, but the charge for the electronic filling put me off (after all it's not hard to set up). I found them very helpful when I was enquiring about their service, and other contractors I have worked with were happy with the service.
I note the first poster wanted a local accountant. Beware of that, I know people who have had poor advice going through a local none specialist accountants. Remember SJD, Uptons and NW specialise in the freelancer area.

it doesn't really matter if they are in timbucktoo!
I guess if you like the added value of paying extra for a nice plush office to send you returns to, it would never do.Last edited by Bagpuss; 8 August 2007, 11:27.The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

This is all getting quite heated and serious
Our charges are £60+VAT per month, so £846pa inc. VAT
SJD charge £95+VAT per month, so £1339.50pa inc. VAT
So a difference of £493.50 in a year, £640.38 in year 1 if you get them to form the company for you.
Location - generally this is not important to most clients, there is no need to visit us, although you are welcome to if you wish. If location is important then clearly this may be a factor.
Expertise - Nixon Williams was established in 1995 and we have delivered an excellent service ever since
Qualifications - all our clients work is supervised by qualified accountants, and we also have several part qualified accountants that we are supporting through training etc.
Credentials - we have proof of our qualifications if anyone wishes to see them.
We believe that we offer a more comprehensive service, we work from source documents and advise our clients on the best way forward, ensuring that they comply with the law etc. We prefer this method to spreadsheets but it is for the client to choose.
When we started we charged £40/month and SJD charged £30/month, in twelve years we have increased this by 50%, whereas SJD has increased theirs by 216%, although I cannot remember if they now do more for this higher fee?
I am sure SJD offer a great service, as do most accountants, they would be unlikely to survive otherwise, do not always think a lower cost is a lower service.

Nice resume, like I said I’m sure you’re nice people.
BUT YOUR’E IN CHORLEY!
Just think if you had an office in Birmingham you could also charge ₤95 (quick open one, there are lots of empty offices).
Sorry but location is important for me, I need my accountant near me.
And I totally agree with an earlier comment, it is best to use a specialist contractor accountant.
Now who else is a National, contractor specialist accountant and has an office in Birmingham?????
Hence why I chose SJD, simple really.Comment
