I applied on-line 1/5/2007. I received a letter this morning informing me that I must not contact them to chase my registration as this will slow things down for everybody, but that I should allow up to a further 15 weeks. What a bunch of losers! Why does it take so long?

You must pay the VAT from the start, but you must not invoice for it separately until you are registered.
Latest update from Grimsby registration, they're processing applications received 31st May 2007 today......so that's 9-10 weeks before they're even processing the forms!!
Latest from the Newry office is that they're processing applications received on 12th May today, so they've got a 12 week backlog before they even look at the application.
I couldn't get through to registrations on any of the standard 0845 numbers - just got through to a message saying all the phones are busy try again later.
A nice bloke on the national helpdesk gave me direct numbers for the Newry office and one of these worked. 028 3025 6581/6583.
Apparently application numbers starting with 250 are dealt with by Newry.
