I realise that is not a 704/7090/9000, it looks more like a black monolith.

I prefer to have my own data under MY direct control, and I think my personal machines are much less likely to be targeted by nefarious scumbags than Irish data centres.
Excel it is then, if i can remember how to work it
Your personal machine is more secure than a data centre? What infosec policy do you implement at home?

It most definitely isn't, as you imply, although it also isn't a target for sophisticated attacks in the same way. Still, I would trust the data centre every time. You can also limit your exposure in FA to the information only required for relevant filings and bookkeeping and avoid inputting a bunch of other things for convenience, but that is still a lot of sensitive info.

Bear in mind that if your company is VAT registered, you'll need to use software from this list:
Find software that works with Making Tax Digital for Income Tax - GOV.UK
The "software type" says whether it's web-based (i.e. cloud computing) or application-based (presumably running on your local device).

                Thanks for that link.
Nice of HMRC to force small businesses to use paid services for a mandatory exercise.
This country really loves to make working expensive.
                Still, could be worse.
could be CH, or NL, or DE.
I'll go freeagent when i hit the VAT threshold then. (grudgingly).
                Thanks for all input.

2.5 months into the tax year and you haven't hit the VAT threshold yet?

I may not, this gig is only short term, and they might not have anything interesting afterward.
