The nice thing about being on the bench is having time to sort all my personal tulip out.
I have a SIPP, and my wife has a small NHS pension (an IOU from HMRC...)
We have some resources I would like to put into our combined pension savings in the most tax efficient way. Up until now, I was under the impression there was such a thing as a Family SIPP which might have let me put funds in a general pool owned by us both. But having searched about it, I am now unsure. When I did find resources about multi-person SIPPs, there seemed to be a suggestion that most common SIPP providers don't do them, which checking a few websites confirms.
* There seem to be smaller providers offering more varied SIPP structures, but likely with less availability of options on how the money is invested.
* I could put they money in my SIPP, but I don't think the income from that can be shared between us in a tax efficient way. It can be inherited efficiently (until the reds come calling at least).
* I can 50/50 the money into my SIPP and a new SIPP for my wife, but she earns so little the max contributions will not be large and take a long time to get the money into it.
My SIPP is currently with Interactice Investor - but would happily move it, just not somewhere that is overly restrictive in its menu of investing options.
So my question is anyone have an idea if this is doable and who might be a good provider?
Probably need to speak to an expert, but any thoughts appreciated.
