How much should I be paying for an Accountant?

I've seen a few recommendations for Giant on here and it seems there basic package is £125 + vat pcm which I think is a bit steep. Yes, it's a drop in the ocean compared to what I may be invoicing but since I'm likely to be spending some or all of the year inside ir35 it's an expense I could do without. How many of you are just paying somebody by the hour to sort it all out at the 11th hour?

Are you sure you read the same forum I've been reading for the past 10 years - I don't remember anyone recommending Giant ever.

Ah... you're right - it was somewhere else I got the recommendation. Will trawl through some more of the threads on here

There is a sticky right at the top of this very part of the forum titled accountant recommendations.

How much you should pay an accountant depends on how much you want them to do and whether you expect a Freeagent or other online accounting package to be included in the bundle.

My accounting fees are about £700 a year and I do 90% of the work myself. Others pay nothing and do all the work themselves, others pay more and do hardly any of the work.

I also pay annually, on receipt of my final accounts, rather than monthly.
