How much you should pay an accountant depends on how much you want them to do and whether you expect a Freeagent or other online accounting package to be included in the bundle.
My accounting fees are about £700 a year and I do 90% of the work myself. Others pay nothing and do all the work themselves, others pay more and do hardly any of the work.
I also pay annually, on receipt of my final accounts, rather than monthly.

I've seen a few recommendations for Giant on here and it seems there basic package is £125 + vat pcm which I think is a bit steep. Yes, it's a drop in the ocean compared to what I may be invoicing but since I'm likely to be spending some or all of the year inside ir35 it's an expense I could do without. How many of you are just paying somebody by the hour to sort it all out at the 11th hour?Tags: None
