    Expense audit?

I know it sounds silly but the freedom I've got to claim expenses frivolously is simply fantastical. Not that I have ever tried. Question is, will I ever get audited? Considering how disiplined I've been and meticulous I certainly hope so!

It would be wonderful to hear from HMRC saying they want copies of all the bloody £3 Tesco's meal deals I've claimed. Getting so tedious taking a photo of each and uploading it to FA.

No you don't. There are very clear rules about what you can claim expenses on. Claiming them on anything else that doesn't meet those rules is fraud.

Yes, there is always a chance you'll get audited and looking at some of your posts you really don't want that.

Now you are showing your stupidity. I believe a tax audit is not a pleasant experience in some cases and yes, if they have grounds they will want to see every single reciept claimed regardless of cost. So you flippantly jest but be very careful what you ask for.

But this wasn't a serious post anyway was it?

As a director, you have legal responsibilities too, per the Companies Act 2006.

Breach of company law can be a criminal offence. It's not a minor slap on the wrist, pay a fine thing. The limited liability afforded to you only goes so far and if you've breached the terms of the act then you'd better learn to get good at picking up the soap.

Yes it does sound silly, and not professional.

Note the name of this forum - ‘Contractor’, not ‘Criminal’ or ‘Fraudster’ UK.
