I am retiring owing to illness and I am closing my limited company. If I assign my registered trademark from the limited company to myself, do I need to pay to re-register the trademark in my own name?

Sorry to hear you’re ill.
If you’re retiring why do you need the trademark?
Does it have any value in and of itself? If so might it be worth selling the company with the trademark.See You Next TuesdayComment

Thank you, Lance. I am not sure that a word-based trademark and associated .com registration is saleable. However, I am attached to the name and feel that it would be worth preserving.Originally posted by Lance View PostSorry to hear you’re ill.

if it's not worth anything, then nobody else is likely to use it so I wouldn't sweat it. Just leave as is and continue to use as you see fit.Originally posted by Sterling View PostThank you, Lance. To be really clean, buy them off your company for £1.
Trademarks are mostly about vanity unless you have a really good business based on it. Domains even more so.See You Next TuesdayComment

You also have to pay to change the registered owner as I explained in the 2nd post.Originally posted by Lance View Postif it's not worth anything, then nobody else is likely to use it so I wouldn't sweat it. Just leave as is and continue to use as you see fit.

Yeah but...Originally posted by northernladuk View PostYou also have to pay to change the registered owner as I explained in the 2nd post.
What I’m saying is you don’t have to do anything as nobody cares. If the OP continues to use the trademark nothing will happen as nobody else owns the trademark.
I didn’t explain it very well.See You Next TuesdayComment
