I am afraid that I am more qualified than those 2 accountants "taking care" of my last 3 years accounts. I am planning to write a proper review about both of them once I have got a minute. For example 2016/2017 was "taken care" by Foremans LLP - Foremans LLP Accountancy, Tax and Administration - I have chosen the most expensive plan they have got, over £2000/year, all included so I don`t have to worry about anything. And guess what?
Out of 3 VAT returns that they have done for me, I found that 2 were done wrong (thank God I checked them BEFORE submission). My "personal advisor" was a graduate with 1 month of experience (I found her at LinkedIn) as I was a bit surprised that for first few months she was able to answer only "I am not sure, let me speak with our accountant". Now at the end of the year, the dividend that they want to submit for me doesn`t match what I have taken out of my account and their record is over £1800 higher. I probably found why, they once sent me the same day 2 completely different advices covering the same month, sent to me by 2 different persons. I probably just followed one of them but now they summed up both. When I asked last week about that, they don`t even bother to answer anymore and just kept saying that I need to follow their record, and they don`t seem to care that I have taken out less. I was sending my bank statements regularly so they could have checked it (but I am sure they don`t, which VAT example showed me clearly). On top of that when I was going through this over the phone with my "professional personal advisor", she was very surprised about one of my Salary Payment which had unusual value. I told her that it was paid as per their payment advice sent to me for this month, she didn`t believe, so I sent her this pay advice with this exact value - she didn`t come back to me since...
So guys, with all due respect, but I really think that I will take care of my money better than those useless accountants, especially that I don`t have any complicated income, like properties etc. I have got just Salary, Dividend and Expenses, I resigned even from VAT, so it should be pretty simple. After something like that I just simply can`t trust any accountant when I have to check everything 3x myself anyway.
BTW.
My 2015/2016 accountant answered my email. The situation looks interesting. He sent me the breakdown with dividend dates and it seems that he included this £5000 and on top of that £1500 from 1.04.2015 that I though he included in 2014/2015 tax year, but he didn`t include £6000 from 4.04.2016. The problem is that when I checked his calculation, it looks clearly that he included £6000 from 4.04.2016 INSTEAD of £1500+£5000 from 1.04.2015 and 27.04.2015, as there is £500 difference between his calculation and his dividends breakdown... I just can`t find words to describe how pissed off I am.......
Now I am really not sure what to do. I don`t think there is any point to bother HMRC with £500 dividend difference (which would give like £150 tax) in 2015/2016 as I can just eventually include this £6000 in this tax year. Ehhhhhhhhh...
