You could change agent, possibly, but currently with no signed contract, then the agent has no legal obligation to pay you a penny for the time you have worked.

Never do work without a signed contract.

You turned up so you've accepted the contract. The contract will explain why you can't swap agencies.

I get paid by the week - so could risk losing a week. 1 weeks pay loss is worth 1 month of difference in the rate, so over 4 months its well worth it to lose a weeks pay. if it can be done.

re the contract again, he actually signed it as i asked for it. but it was me who didn't return the signed version from my end

nothing in the contract regarding changing agencies, i've read the whole thing. and also consider i have not opted out of the opt out either as that is another signature page that was not signed/returned.

Ignoring how much the agent is making on this, you agreed for 395, so clearly you are happy on that rate. If you thought that rate was low, why did you accept it? You should have rejected it and found another gig.

These things happen, just finish the contract, work the 4 months, get a new gig and use this as lesson learnt. Set a minimum rate for yourself and don't accept anything lower.

And the client has accepted you so they have a contract with the agency on that basis, so the client won't be able to hire you through another agency. You're screwed to some extent whichever way you look, so take the hit or take a walk. The best lessons are usually expensive, you just found that out the hard way.

Contract law. Talk to a lawyer, read a book, try googling.
