Australia Resident to work for UK agency and UK Client

    Hi Members,

I am non-UK resident and working in UK for last 2 years for a client in UK through a Indian based company. I am now moving to Australia since I have got permanent resident and my client wants me to continue working for them through a UK agency. Agency says that they can only pay me in GBP but not in AUD. I am still fine with it as I can get an bank account in Australia which can accept multi currency. Since I am working from Australia I will be paying taxes there but was confused whether I need pay taxes in UK or not?

Could someone please help me on this.

    Thanks

You will pay taxes where you work - i.e. Australia. You do not charge VAT.

Even though you will be working for a UK based client, the work will be carried out in Australia. You will need to set up your own company in Australia. You will need the help of an Accountant in Australia. I don't see any tax implications in the UK.
      I'm alright Jack

And, of course, a business account in Oz that can accept GBP.

One thing you may want to look into is the Australian equivalent to IR35.
I believe, to be "safe", you have to have at least 2 different clients within one tax year.

If you are non UK resident, how are you able to work in UK ?

Is this a new kind of scam by the Indian outsourcers ?
