IPSE Standard will help you in any business-related tax investigation.
IPSE Plus will help you in any business-related tax matter.

There are other benefits of Plus over Standard, but that's the difference about tax enquiries in a nutshell.

I can't see that on their site here: https://www.ipse.co.uk/what-we-do

It doesn't mention any other tax type benefits for Plus over Standard other than support for compliance checks and up to £500/day compensation for lost earnings during an investigation/tax meetings ?

From your link, benefits of Plus over Standard include:

A specialist to represent you in all HMRC compliance checks at no cost
Up to £10000 compensation for failed payments
Up to £5000 compensation for jury service
Up to £2000 compensation if you are ill/injured for 3 weeks
Up to £1000 compensation if an agency breaks its contract
Up to £500 per day compensation for tax compliance meetings
£5000 life assurance cover at no cost

There are other things mentioned in the sections at the bottom, but I'm not going to cut and paste them here for you

          And those aren't worth having?

So go with the basic package and when you work out how much better Plus is you can upgrade. At any time.

I am not saying the other things are not worth having, just trying to focus on the tax aspects for ease of comparison.

OK, but that's not the best approach to be taking IMHO. The IPSE package is, as I said, a business protection service that includes tax protection. There are many more immediate and real threats to your day-to-day business than taxation.

For one off exercises like contract review by all means play the market (bearing in mind you get what you pay for...), but you really need to think a bit more long term. Claim on any one of the IPSE+ benefits and you have immediately recovered at least two years worth of subscriptions as a minimum.

Plenty of threads discussing IPSE v QDOS in the search.

You won't be saying that when called up for jury service...
