JSA SERVICES LIMITED / aka Workwell

    Hi all,

I was doing some research on umbrella companies from the "preferred list" provided by my agency and found Workwell's group accounts to be really worrying. You can see their latest group account on the link belowbut from what I saw this company is in trouble. They had a £2.62m loss in 2020 and a £3.78m loss in 2021. Their balance sheet has a £5.9m deficitand took a £9m loan in 2021.

There is a lot of noise around JSA recently. They've been caught messing around with holiday pay I believe

Also some changing of conditions or something

EDIT: Plus that acronym makes me giggle because it looks like theyve got Job Seekers Allowance/Workwell. Some kind of irony going on there but that could be just I'm childish rather than a helpful feedback

I asked for an illustration for several umbrella companies and Workwell was the only one that sent their illustation with an incorrect net salary as they didn't calculate the tax correctly. They did add message at the bottom saying that they will be a "Year-end tax to set aside payment" that will be "payable through Self Assessment" but that's really BS as all umbrella companies should be paying people correctly via PAYE and not leaving a big tax bill to be sorted in Self Assessment.
