A further thought, bringing things back to the brolly part of the topic... does this work?

- 3 days per month minimum, one invoice per month (or even per quarter?)

- salary sacrifice of the maximum going into a pension (presumably I'd need to be paid 3 days x 8 hours x £8.72), therefore hoping to minimize tax and ErNI and EeNI.

Is there a brolly that would do this? Preferably into my SIPP but I'm guessing that is a step too far...

Continuation of same trade - which would hold true even if you were self employed and not via your own limited company, so you hit the 2 year rule.

I have had 2 brolly setups, one that paid me NMW on the hours I put on my time sheet, and the rest into a SIPP. And my current one that pays 83% of gross into a SIPP. They work out roughly the same. In both cases £10 a week fee only if you bill for that week.

It's all down to the 336 hours we have to guarantee in any annual period, which equates to around 1 day per week.

Yes, as long as you receive £8.72 as your taxable pay the rest can be processed as salary sacrifice. We currently only pay across to our scheme, but are in talks with one SIPP provider to see if this is a possibility.

Thanks for your input. I've got a catch up with the potential client today/tomorrow and an idea of what might be workable, the help is much appreciated.

If I can be paid into an existing II SIPP then even better but a different scheme is hardly the end of the world.

I asked the umbrella which SIPPs they already paid into, and opened an HL SIPP for that reason. I'll transfer from HL to my preferred SIPP when I'm finished with the contract.
